We all think, when we think of swiss made, we think of everything being done in Switzerland, or some old Swiss guy sitting at a desk making a watch. Fact is, thats just not reality anymore.
It all comes down to the CEO's and the owners of the company, if they get greedy, and how much money they want to make.
We all know that producing in Hong Kong is cheaper than in Switzerland. As long as these companies are within the guidlines set by the Swiss federation, they are doing nothing wrong.
Is the fact of how they market them, and we percieve the high end brands wrong? Maybe so. We think of Tag, Omega, Oris, etc, we think more high end, and a true swiss made timpiece. But these days, swiss made MIGHT not be what it used to be.
We can only really take these companies on their word , because rumors and speculation are all we have, until we have concrete factual evidence to provide otherwise.
Can anyone say for a fact , that they know that Oris is completley made of all swiss parts, all made in Switzerland and nothing is outsourced ? I cant. Or any brand for that matter. Unless you work for these companies or see factual documents, we may never know.
Are their import/export records available to public? Probably not.
As always , do your research when it comes to buying a watch, and whatever reasons you have that you think the product is worth the coin. I can not say one way or another if I know that they are outsourcing for anythinig, or not.
But as long as they are in those guidlines to put the swiss made on the dial, we may never know. As long as they are, swiss made can be put on the dial, and in terms of the guidlines, any outsourcing that they may do, isnt illegal or untruthful.
