MIDO’S NEW COMMANDER GRADIENT OFFERS A VIEW OF ITS MOVEMENT FROM BOTH SIDES
unfortunately gets little attention here in the US. Mido, part of the Swatch Group, has a ton of history and frequently releases watches with tons of bang per buck in the Multifort, Ocean Star, and Baroncelli lines. These collections all have a very obvious purpose (everyday wear, diving, dress) and communicate in language that watch lovers understand. The Commander, like other Mido collections, takes its inspiration from historic (and very specific) art and architecture. What does the Commander really have to do with the Eiffel Tower, though? I’m not exactly sure. But the newly announced Commander Gradient has a distinct and modern look, and will serve as a reintroduction to the collection for many.

Powering the watch is the Mido Caliber 80 movement, based on the ETA C07.611. This automatic movement has an impressive and convenient 80 hour power reserve, and can be seen not just through the dial, but also through the exhibition caseback. The Commander Gradient is available on a black fabric strap with orange stitching, or a matching black PVD bracelet. The watch can also be had in a version with rose gold accents on a leather strap.
