Robert Alan Eustace, he is the Senior Vice President Google, jumped from the stratosphere at the hight 41,419 meters.
Along for the ride was the Sinn 857 UTC, which was integrated into the sleeve of his specially designed suit. Before, during and after the jump, the instrumental watch put in a flawless performance – despite the cold (-77 degrees C / -108 degrees F), low pressure and a free-fall speed of 1,322.9 km/h, which lasted five minutes and resulted in Eustace breaking the sound barrier.

Lemania has a rich history, tracing its roots back to 1884. The Lemania name first appeared in 1930, right before the company was integrated into Société Suisse pour l’Industrie Horlogère (SSIH), where it joined Omega and Tissot. SSIH along with AUSAG were the two dominant Swiss watch collectives that would later be combined to form the Swatch Group in the early-1980s.

Lemania was always predominately a manufacturer and designer of movements. Yes, there are quite a few Lemania-branded watches from the 1950s, but these weren’t the main focus of Lemania. The partnership between Lemania and Omega was especially strong, and today Lemania still supply movements for the Omega Speedmaster.

From a Heuer- perspective, things get  interesting in 1978 when Lemania launched the 5100 movement- an automatic movement specifically designed as a response to the arrival of the low-cost Japanese quartz movements that were having a devastating  impact on the Swiss watch industry

In 1956 Helmut Sinn founded his own watch company in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Functional watches, mostly chronographs of uncompromising quality were here designed, assembled and sold to unrivaled prices via direct distribution. In the mid 90ies, after almost 40 years, Helmut Sinn thought about retiring from active business. But the sale of his company went unfortunate.
