A new manufacture calibre – the 50th in the portfolio of in-house movements – writes a new chapter in the successful history of the icon, whose family now includes 15 different models.

A technical evolution
Its development reflects the horological experience accrued during a period of more than 20 years. The result is a systematic technical evolution.
The technical finesse of the movement
Apart from familiar hallmarks such as the twin mainspring barrel with a power reserve of 72 houres, the new calibre L121.1 has an escapement featuring a balance wheel with eccentric poising weights as well as a freely oscillating balance spring crafted in-house. Beneath the hand-engraved balance cock, the balance beats at a frequency of 21,600 semi-oscillations per hour and assures high rate accuracy.
Traditional elements of Lange watchmaking artistry
The sapphire-crystal caseback reveals the L121.1 manufacture movement consisting of 368 lavishly finished parts. The going train is carried by the three-quarter plate, which Ferdinand A. Lange had already introduced by 1864. The 43 synthetic ruby jewels that minimise mechanical friction in the movement reflect the manufactory’s heritage. Eight of them are held in gold chatons, which are secured with blued screws.
