Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dial: Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Tiger Reverso Stuns
On the Chinese Zodiac, 2022 is the year of the tiger, which symbolises resilience and strength. It’s a time when courage and bravery will be the hallmarks, and could also mark a change toward good. Jaeger-LeCoultre is channelling their own eye of the tiger with their new Reverso Tribute Enamel “Tiger” watch. The special edition was designed specifically the year of the tiger, and definitely makes the statement that it is time for change.
The Reverso Tribute Enamel Tiger comes in 18K pink gold and is not only a special edition, it’s made to order. Using the caseback as a canvas, Jaeger-LeCoultre commissioned a hand-engraved rampant tiger with infilled black enamel. The artwork is stunning, and took 55 hours to complete just the engraving. Adding the enamel increased that toll by another 20 hours. Swivel the watch around and you’ll see a matching face.
For the dial, Jaeger-LeCoultre used the same black enamel to create the background for the faceted pink gold hour markers as well as the printed gold chemin de for minute track with Dauphin hands. As these pieces are all made to order, Jaeger-LeCoultre also offers personalization with different enamel colors. Inside the case is a Calibre 822A/2, which features 19 jewels and is composed of 108 pieces. It has a 45-hour power reserve and ticks at 21,600 bph. The watch comes on a traditional alligator glossy piano black strap.
In addition to marking the Lunar New Year, the Reverso Tribute Enamel Tiger also marks the opening of Jaeger-LeCoultre’s new flagship boutique in Shanghai. The watch measures 4.5 mm x 27.4 mm x 9.73 mm. The dent it will make in your wallet is considerably larger—about the size of $103,000 USD.
