This week, the tenth TORTOUR multi-day nonstop ultracycling event took place. Representing the Laureus Foundation Switzerland, seven teams from IWC Schaffhausen were among the competitors.

For the second time, IWC CEO Christoph Grainger-Herr was present at the starting line. Through a crowdfunding campaign the participants raised until now a total of CHF 60,000 for a social sports project run by the Laureus Foundation Switzerland.

As the company celebrates its 150th year, it has just raised the curtains on a 13,500sqm Merishausen. The expansive manufacturing center since IWC unite 11 departments previously spread out across different locations in Neuhausen and Schaffhausen, including the production of in-house calibres, motion components as well as watch cases. Completed after just 21 months of construction, the new factory is in the brand's rapid growth over the past decade, with IWC now the largest pure-play watchmaker in parent company Richemont's stable.

To mark the inauguration of its first boutique in Amsterdam, IWC Schaffhausen has released a special edition watch the Portuguese Yacht Club “Amsterdam 2014” (Ref. IW390209). This limited edition consists of five timepieces sold exclusively at the IWC boutique in Amsterdam. The robust, sporty watch featuring a flyback chronograph has a 45.4. millimetre case in red gold and a black rubber strap.
