The Pre-A Series.

Few collectors realise, however, that before the A- and B-series PAM's 001 (Luminor Marina), 002 (Luminor), 003 (white dial Luminor Marina), 004 (PVD Luminor Marina), 009 (PVD Luminor) and 010 (white dial Luminor), Officine Panerai issued three (some would say four) small series of watches to test the waters and generate media attention before real production was on its way. I believe most of these watches were destined to be primarily sold on the Italian, Swiss and German markets. Officine Panerai did so in 1997 and 1998. These, largely unknown, series are now called "pre-A" series. Simply because they pre-date the 1998 A-series Luminor Base series of a 1000 pieces, AXXXX/1000 OP 6502 and 1500 Luminor Marinas AXXXX/1500 OP 6502. The latter two are, of course, the "real" A-series as we all know them.

OP Logo

The OP Logo was born at the beginning of years ’80, designed by an Architectural Office of Florence and, in the first drafts, had a rounded form; Eng. Zei (CEO of Offcine Panerai since 1972 until 1999) did not like this Logo, so as it was designed.

Then, Eng. Dino Zei, together with the Officine Panerai Technical Department responsible, had the idea for this definitive version (here described) adding the two stylised arrows.

The OP Logo has been sold to Cartier, at that time Vendome group on 1997, with the watches- torches-compassess and depth-gauges brand, the patents, the original drawings and all the watches store.

Since 1997 the old Officine Panerai changed its name into Panerai Sistemi SpA. On 1999 the Panerai Sistemi has been sold to Calzoni of Bologna, that absorbed all its industrial and productive activities. At present (2004) Panerai Sistemi is a brand of Calzoni Srl, utilized for all ex-Panerai products.

Cartier, now Richemont group, has never utilized the OP Logo until the end of the 2003 when it appears on the special edition for collectors of the Luminor Marina 44mm (PAM 195), on the dial and on the case-back and, subsequently, on the crowns of the new Radiomir 45mm 8 Days (PAM 190 and 197) and Black Seal (PAM 183) models, more another limited edition of the Luminor and L. Marina models, alls introduced during the 2004.

Ειναι γεγονος οτι δεν απευθυνονται στον νεο πανεριστα.
Δεν θα τα αγορασει καποιος που ερχεται πρωτη φορα σε επαφη με την Πανεραι.
Δεν κανει για πρωτο πανερι, ειναι βεβαιο και το ξερει η εταιρια.

Για παλιους πανεριστες ομως και συλλεκτες, μπορει να ειναι μια -διαφορετικη-  επιλογη.

Τώρα που τα είδα από υπολογιστή είναι όντως όμορφα ρολογάκια.
Βέβαια, δεν καταλαβαίνω γιατί γράφουν Radiomir Panerai στο dial... Aν τους πάρουν πρέφα στην OP θα πέσουνε μηνύσεις...

Πέρα από την πλάκα, είναι κρίμα να βγάζει τέτοια ρολόγια στο όνομα της διαφορετικότητας, limited ή οτιδήποτε άλλο...
Αν μη τι άλλο προκαλεί, και όχι άδικα, τους πολέμιους της μάρκας να την κράξουν. Κατά την ταπεινή μου άποψη λάθος κίνηση.

Για να μην αδησω ημιτελη την απαντηση μου σε σενα  Βαγγελη αλλα και γενικοτερα. στα οσα ειπωθηκαν για την Πανεραι  ( δεν πιστευω να περιμενει εμενα γα τελειωσω για να αρχισει ο Bryan ) , θα  το κανω αυριο με την ησυχια μου.

Παντως, εξακολουθω να πιστευω στην Πανεραι!!

Since it was founded in 1860, Florence's Orologeria Svizzera as the Panerai family's historic store was called was the watch and clock retailer favoured by the aristocracy and upper classes of Florence. In fact, even before it created the first models for the Royal Italian Navy, the Panerai boutique was selling pocket watches, wristwatches, table clocks and magnificent pendulum clocks from the best makers, and its exceptional stock of these clocks was displayed on the first floor of the shop which still today is situated facing the Baptistery of Florence.
The case, in stainless steel, measures 47mm. It has a Plexiglas crystal, a sapphire display back, and it is water resistant to 100 meters.

Movement is the Swiss manual-wind Panerai in-house caliber P.3000 with 21 jewels, 21,600 vph and a power reserve of 3 days. It has three brushed-finish bridges protecting the mechanism and the bridge with twin supports on which the balance 13.2 mm in diameter (3 Hz) is firmly mounted. The P.3000 movement also has the device by which the time can be swiftly adjusted: it enables the hour hand to be moved forwards or backwards in jumps of one hour at a time without interfering with the movement of the minute hand or the running of the watch. Functions are: hours and minutes.

Ακόμα και τα παλιά (και πανέμορφα) ρόλεξ που χρησιμοποιήθηκαν σαν βάση για τα πρώτα Πανεράι, διέθεταν λούμινους δείκτες.

Σε αντίθεση με τα παραπάνω, 790&791.
Στα οποία, αξίζει να προσεχθεί η αντίφαση: RADIOMIR στο dial, με δείκτες αόρατους στο σκοτάδι!!
