The FP 1185, while interesting in concept, is IMHO the least reliable chrono movement out there. One could argue that the problems I had were secondary to poor QC at BP (which I would not disagree with, BTW) but I think there are intrinsic problems to the movement as far as reliability and ruggedness.


Τhe only watches I have ever had problems with were 1185-equipped Blancpain Flybacks. I have had two of them--a Monaco YS, and a Ti model. They were both purchsed new. The Monaco's minute register never advanced past the five minute mark. Thinking that I had a fluke bad experience, two years later I purchased a Ti flyback that had an even more ridiculous problem--the center seconds hand was not mounted on the center arbor with enough friction such that with every reset to zero the seconds hand rotated more and more to the left of 12 o'clock. At the end of the first day, to my dismay, the center seconds hand would reset to the 10 o'clock postion!

Ηταν το QC ?Μηπως η μηχανη ειχε οντως καποιο κατασκευαστικο θεμα?Αφου ΒΒ ,με εβαλες στο τρυπακι και καλα εκανες δηλαδη,βρηκα οτι ναι ειχε ενα θεμα στο κεντρικο συστημα μεταδοσης του χρονογραφου.Ειναι καλυτερη η Ρολεξ 4130?Ναι,μεγαλυτερες διαστασεις,εμπνευσμενη απο την 1185 ,το αποτελεσμα?Μια αξιοπιστη μηχανη ,που περασε το QC της Ρολεξ και δεν εχω διαβασει για προβληματα,τι αλλο θες?

The caliber 41030 is self-winding via a bidirectional rotor but can also be manually wound. Of course, no Caliber 4130 finds its way into a Daytona case without first attaining COSC certification. Compared to other legendary chronograph movements, such as the Piguet 1185, the Rolex 4130 is arguably lacking in sophistica­tion and fine finishing. However, it has historically been Rolex’s adherence to simplicity and practicali­ty of design that has given its movements such leg­endary reputations—the 4130 is no exception. In less than a decade of service, the movement has already firmly established itself at the table with the best chronograph movements in the world.

Λες η piguet είναι πιο φινίρισμενη, αναλόγως ρολογιού! Μα οι εταιρίες που φοράνε αυτή την μηχανή, που πήραν ετοιμη, κάνουν το φινίρισμα ...ε και? Το ίδιο κόστος έχει, με το να φτιάξεις μια νέα μηχανή?

 The 4130 uses 12 different screws versus more than 40 found inside the 4030.
- The 4130 has roughly 20% fewer parts than the 4030, which yes, is a good thing.
- The 4130’s vertical clutch is serviceable, unlike the vertical clutches used by other, competing and very well-known brands. It is routinely re-lubricated during servicing, but can be disassembled and repaired as well. The alternative, unserviceable vertical clutches, are untouched during servicing. They’re reinstalled as is, and become, in the words of an experienced watchmaker friend, “basically time bombs which will, of course, eventually fail”.
- The 4130’s mainspring can be replaced without taking the movement out of the case. A 4030, on the other hand, requires a full overhaul in order to replace the mainspring.
- All of the 4130’s chronograph parts are on the movement side – only one eccentric (e.g., difficult) is required. The 4030, with three horizontal clutches spanning both sides of the movement, requires up to five different eccentric adjustments to function properly.
- The 4130’s automatic winding mechanism winds 68% more efficiently than the 4030’s, and is equipped with more reliable reversers compared with the 4030, which uses a complicated reverser that is prone to sticking.


Many respected watchmakers will confirm: The caliber 4130 set a new benchmark among high-end, self-winding chronograph movements.
