quote: "A World War II British military pocket watch made by the Swiss manufacturer Jaeger-LeCoultre - regarded, of course, as one of the finest watch houses in the world. The British government ordered many thousands of watches for wartime military use, but for the most critical applications, where accuracy and reliability were paramount, a small number of high grade pocket watches were ordered from some of Switzerland's finest makers: such as Jaeger-LeCoultre, Omega, Zenith, Breitling, Heuer and Longines, and this is an example of one. Typical users would be aircraft navigators or bomb aimers, who required exceptional accuracy in timekeeping. Pocket watches were favoured for their large, clear displays and because they could be placed flat on a chart table when in use."
