Limited Edition of 1,000 Pieces
The first spacegoing wrist chronograph, the Breitling Cosmonaute, has been updated and issued in a limited edition.
On May 24th 1962, Lieutenant Commander Scott Carpenter, USN, orbited the earth three times aboard the Aurora 7 capsule. On his wrist was a Navitimer featuring a 24-hour graduation serving to distinguish day from a night an absolute necessity in space.
The case, in black steel (a highly resistant carbon-based coating), measures 43mm. It has an AR-coated sapphire crystal and it is water resistant to 30 meters. It features a bi-directional rotating bezel with circular slide rule and the engraved caseback bears the official Aurora 7 mission insignia.
Movement is the Swiss hand-wind Bretiling in-house caliber B02 with 39 jewels, 28,800 vph and a power reserve of over 70 hours. It is COSC-certified as a chronometer chronograph. It is a 24-hour display system.
It is available on a black rubber Ocean Racer strap with black steel deployant.
