At 42mm wide in steel, the Grand Seiko SBGR097 is also 13.1mm thick, which makes this a pretty hefty dress watch. With that said, there is a character to it (not unlike the Rolex Datejust and Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra) which allows you to wear it just as easily with shorts and a t-shirt, even though it was meant for business attire.
Seiko will produce the Grand Seiko SBGR097 as a limited edition of 500 pieces with global availability. The suggested retail price is 4,100 Euros which, right now, is about $4,650 USD. That is a bit more than the non-limited edition SBGR099 and SBGR101 that retail for $4,100.Inside the Grand Seiko SBGR097 is the existing and in-house made Seiko caliber 9S61 automatic. This is Grand Seiko's 72 hour power reserve 4Hz mechanical automatic movement that, while not as impressive as their "Hi-Beat" 5Hz movement, is still a very capable performer and easily runs within COSC Chronometer standards.ABTW
