The Group's net sales were up 3.6% to CHF 4 248 million at constant exchange rates or 2.2% to CHF 4 192 million at current rates. Calculated in euros, the Group grew by 18.7%.
•In the Watches & Jewelry segment, including Production, the Swatch Group grew by 3.4% at constant exchange rates in comparison with the declining export of wrist watches of the Swiss Watch Industry of 1.1% at the end of May.
•Accelerated growth in May and June 2015.
•Operating profit of CHF 761 million, 8.3% under the first half of the previous year, due to significant currency shifts in the recent past. Nevertheless, operating margin reached 18.2% for the Group.
•In the Watches & Jewelry segment, including Production, the operating margin reached 20.0%.
•Swiss franc shock and negative interest rates result in a lower net income of CHF 548 million, 19.4% below the first half of 2014.
•Positive outlook for the second half of the year, with the launch of new products such as Omega's new James Bond Edition, the introduction of the Omega Master Co-Axial with METAS certification, the Swatch Touch Zero One and the Swatch NFC (Near Field Communication) as a contact-free means of payment; as well as with the additional increase in capacity at Tissot for its very successful T-Touch Expert Solar.

With its worldwide distribution network, the Group is in an excellent position to provide its customers with an array of products, even when tourist flows and consequently purchase locations suddenly change, as was often the case in the year under review. The number of patent applications increased again in the year under review, not only in the area of electronic smart and mobile device products, but also primarily for watches and watch movements. Not only new products from the 20 brands, but also all current brand models which benefit from ongoing demand, will contribute to a good year in 2016. Particularly the new METAS certified antimagnetic Omega Co-Axial Globemaster collection, as well as various Swatch watches such as the Swatch Bellamy, launched in China, with its contactless payment function, will generate very positive sales in China and other regions. Also, the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, which start in August, will give the Omega brand, the official Games timekeeper, an additional boost. Tissot, through its long-standing partnership with the NBA, the North American professional basketball league, has become the official timekeeper for the NBA, the women’s basketball league WNBA and the NBA Development League, which will generate substantially increased sales for the brand, in both North American and worldwide markets.
Swatch Group, with its strong presence and pioneer role in countries such as China, Russia or India, will continue to generate dynamic growth in local currency in 2016. January 2016 confirms that particularly in mainland China, watch consumption rose strongly compared to the previous year, reason why, the Swatch Group expects growth of well over 5% in 2016 in local currency.

Swatch Group has confirmed that prices for at least six of its brands will increase by 5% in the UK according to a recent WatchPro news report. The price adjustment is due to take place starting March 1st, 2017, and follows the pound’s recent 15% loss in value against the Swiss franc. This is the first price increase we’ve seen since the Brexit decision in June of last year and it presents yet another unexpected economic development

Swatch Group, one of the largest Watches & Jewelry conglomerate – owner, among others, of Swatch, Omega, Breguet, Blancpain, Jaquet Droz, Glashütte Original, Longines, Tissot or Rado – just published its yearly report, posting strong results for the year 2017. First of all, net sales increased 5.8% to CHF 7,989 million and +5.4% to CHF 7,960 million at current exchange rates (vs. CHF 7,553 million in 2016). Growth is driven mainly by the Watches & Jewelry segment, with an overall growth of 6.9% at current exchange rates (remember that this segment is responsible for over 90% of the group’s sales).

Twenty years ago, on June 24, 1998, the world's largest watch company changed its name from the SMH Group to the Swatch Group. While little remembered today, the decision was controversial at the time. Especially within SMH. If you were an executive at, say, Omega or Longines or Blancpain or fill-in-the-blank, you weren't so crazy about your multi-billion-dollar parent company changing its corporate identity to that of a $45 plastic watch.
He is rightly hailed as the savior of the Swiss watch industry during one of the darkest hours in its history, the quartz-watch crisis. The instrument with which he did it was SMH, a company he conceived and led from its creation in 1983 out of two giant Swiss watch firms that were hemorrhaging red ink.
It all started on February 19, 1998, when SMH announced its financial results for 1997, and some other news. The company had had a great year. It reported record sales, passing the 3 billion Swiss franc mark for the first time, with operating profit up 53.6% and net profit up 24.5%.
In the 1990s, Hayek attempted the replicate the model in other fields. He launched Swatch phones and a company called Swatch Telecom. He entered into a joint venture with Germany's Daimler-Benz to develop an urban mini-car that he dubbed the Swatchmobile. The Micro Compact Car company, headquartered in Bienne, worked on the prototype of what is now the Smart car.

In fact, according to Swatch Group scuttlebutt, what Hayek really wanted was not Breguet, but Nouvelle Lemania, the Vallée de Joux movement producer, which was part of the Breguet Group and made the movements for the Omega moon watch. Hayek's goal was to lock in that crucial source of supplies for Omega.

Φαίνεται ότι διαθέτει και πολύ πλούσιο, σχετικό με το αντικείμενο, βιογραφικό:

Από τη Βασιλεία δεν αποχωρούν επειδή έκαναν κανένα φοβερό λάθος και είδαν τις πωλήσεις τους να πέφτουν.
Πρόβλεψη κάνει ο Χάγιεκ: Κατά διαόλου θα πάει γενικά το ελβ. ρολόι (όχι μόνο το swatch group).
Οι λόγοι είναι αρκετοί, μερικοί δε ήδη και προφανείς.
Στο τέλος, ίσως μόνο μία ρόλεξ και μία καρτιέ θα μείνουν.

Current speculation is that the Swatch Group will host their own show. It is perhaps interesting that in the Nivachron announcement the publicly-traded Swatch Group chose to include mention of Audemars Piguet – a privately-owned competitor. Audemars Piguet has not participated with Baselworld for many years, instead displaying their new watches in Geneva each year at the SIHH haute horology trade show event.

the Nivachron alloy and the balance springs that will be produced as a result of it entirely fit into a larger strategy pushed by the traditional watch industry to focus on magnetic-resistance in as many of their new watches as possible.
One of the most prominent ETA competitors is Sellita – who in the near future may now longer be able to say that their movements are “1:1” substitutes of ETA movements. The Sellita SW200 (for example) is designed to fit any timepiece engineered to use an ETA 2824 automatic. If the ETA 2824 movements of the near future include anti-magnetic Nivachron balance springs, then Sellita will either have to up its game, or perhaps reduce their prices.

Over the next two years Swatch will be expected to deliver just 75% of parts to rival companies from average levels between 2009 and 2011. The supply of parts will then be dropped further to 65% in the years 2016 and 2017 and to 55% in 2018 and 2019.
A clause in the agreement is designed protect “hardship” cases where the denial of parts might be detrimental, even disastrous to smaller companies. Also, the agreement may be reassessed if market conditions evolve differently in the years to come.

In recent years several high-end brands have started to focus on developing their own in-house movements, or developing or adapting movements based on some of the ETA hardworking standards such as the ETA 2824-2 or 7750 for chronographs. ETA has 20 production sites located in the foothills of Jura and the Swiss cantons of Valais and Ticino. Their production and assembly of movements and watches are considered global benchmarks for their reliability and performance.

Swatch Group reports that it now controls the entire gold processing chain internally. Its own foundry, which has just been granted a Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC) Code of Practices (COP) certificate, is now able to manage all of the gold requirements within the Group. Swatch Group has thus taken a new step forward in traceability.
Nivarox, a subsidiary of Swatch Group, was audited by an independent Swiss body in October 2018 for its Responsible Jewellery Council COP certification. Swatch Group received the official certificate from the RJC last Friday.
All of the Group's gold will be processed in a totally closed cycle and under strict internal control. In other words, the entire transformation process from the foundry to the semi-finished and finished products is controlled within Swatch Group. The same is applicable even for waste materials, including production waste. Swatch Group will be able to further accelerate the creation of new alloys, as it has already done with Sedna gold, developed in-house by its metallurgists and scientists.

We do, however, have one release date locked in. In February, the Swatch Sistem 51 is due to receive its own anti-magnetic hairspring. This comes one month after the debut of Swatch Pay, a new NFC-driven system that allows wearers to pay for items using their watch. Tissot will also be focusing on digital tech. The T-Touch will receive a new smart operating system to be launched during the course of 2019.
It has been announced that all future mechanical watches produced by the Swatch Group will feature anti-magnetic hairsprings. With the option to use either silicon or Nivachron springs
