The 2015 Master Grande Tradition Grande Complication is quite simply breathtaking, and is testament to what can be achieved when big brand resources are available to plough into materials, machinery and man-hours. It is essentially created around the principles of sidereal time (an ancient scale devised by early astronomers in which time is measured using the constellations, slightly different to solar time or our neatly rounded civil time), so the sidereal day is 23h 56m and 4s, and that is precisely how long it takes for the mesmerising focal point of this timepiece, that beautiful flying tourbillon, and the face of the dial to which it is affixed, to travel around in a counter clockwise direction as it completes the sidereal day.

A dial and flying tourbillon which together perform a daily rotation in sidereal time, complemented by civil time which runs in parallel, a calendar which displays date, month and governing zodiac symbol, and a day and night function too. Hugely impressive for certain, considering the complexity of these intricacies, but what truly elevates the watch even further and into the highest levels of watchmaking and making it worthy of the Grande Complication tag is the minute repeater complication, which has also been a feature of the Master Grande Tradition Grande Complication since its inception.

The case of the Excalibur Spider is made of black DLC-coated titanium. The red accents/inlays are aluminum elements. In other words, this watch is hard and light. It's also fast-paced. Well, it has two running-seconds displays, which, by the way, are labeled and seem to run counterclockwise. Is that a nod perhaps to Roger Dubuis unorthodox approach to complication? We hope so.

Notice the design choice on the printed seconds. Roger Dubuis is still detail-oriented, creative and every bit as daring when it comes to creating fast-paced, horologically loaded, sporty pieces. In other words, Roger Dubuis has not changed in 2015 – and yes, that's good news.

VC "Harmony" collection
VC has just unveil a new collection called "Harmony" with different complications, in limited editions to celebrate the 260the anniversary of the brand.
It should be a very fine finishing among the brand's offer, together with engravings on the movement which are linked to the theme of the 260th anniversary.
It is a limited edition with quite many pieces but I think it allows many VC's amators to acquire one.

Powered by the new hand-winding Vacheron Constantin Calibre 3200, this timepiece joins the Harmony collection designed to accommodate medium complication and grande complication movements, to the delight of collectors and informed connoisseurs. Combining the elegance of the monopusher chronograph with the prestige of a stunning tourbillon shaped like the Maltese cross, this exceptional new model is issued in a highly exclusive series of 26 individually numbered timepieces. Housed in a precious 950 platinum case (42 mm x 52 mm, 12.81 mm thick), Vacheron Constantin Calibre 3200 bearing the Hallmark of Geneva features a bridge hand-engraved with delicate scrolling patterns. Specially created by the brand designers to set apart the exclusive series dedicated to the 260th anniversary of the Manufacture, this original motif, also known as ‘fleurisanne engraving’, is inspired by the arabesques adorning the balance-cock on the oldest pocket watch belonging to the Maison and signed by Jean-Marc Vacheron in 1755.

A contemporary incarnation of a 1928 Vacheron Constantin chronograph, the new chronograph in the Harmony collection clearly displays its kinship with the original model and pays it an eloquent tribute. Its generous pink gold cushion-shaped case (42 mm x 52 mm, 12.81 mm thick) reinterprets formal artistry firmly dedicated to technical refinement, since its three-dimensional construction houses the new hand-wound Calibre 3300 developed by Vacheron Constantin. Endowed with a substantial 65-hour power reserve, this monopusher chronograph movement adopts the classic architecture of the new chronograph movements presented by the Manufacture. For the anniversary edition, this model is issued in a limited, individually numbered edition of 260. It displays the hours, minutes, small seconds at 9 o’clock, along with a monopusher chronograph function, pulsometric scale and power-reserve indication. In tribute to the 1928 model and to historical medical watches, it bears a pulsometric graduation painted in deep red around the rim of the dial and intended to calculate the pulse on a 30-beat scale.

Three new references, two for men and one for women, are equipped with this new movement driving the hours, minutes, seconds along with dual time and day/night indications. To further improve the user friendliness of this timepiece in any situation, this elaborate movement incorporates a remarkable innovation: all settings may be done by the crown in both directions, without any risk of damaging the mechanism. This calibre comprises a special stop seconds device ensuring a more accurate time display.
