The Ollech & Wajs MP2063 is a military styled watch. The rare AS 2063 automatic movement is a New Old Stock movement.
The black dial is military inspired. With big black luminous arabic numbers, the design is clearcut. The circled "T" on the dial signifies that tritium is used for the luminous on the dial. Although Tritium does not glow as brightly as Superluminova, but they glow longer throughout the night since they are self illuminating. The luminous on the MP2063 is slightly of a green hue. Mesmerizing!
The case is finished to a very high Swiss standard. The case is satin brushed on the top and sides. The satin brushed stainless steel caseback is engraved.
All Ollech & Wajs watches will come with a 12 months mechanical fault warranty. Only Gnomon Watches provide a 12 months warranty on all Ollech & Wajs watches. Insist on buying from authorized distributor.

Eνα απο τα ρολογια της εταιριας που μου εχουν κανει ιδιαιτερη εντυπωση ειναι το pilot μεΕΤΑ 7750.
Ειναι παρομοιο με το Sinn 103 και εχει ασυναγωνιστη τιμη. Απο ποιοτητα και φινιρισμα δεν γνωριζω πως ειναι αλλη με 900$ περιπου νομιζω οτι ειναι καλη αγορα.

Το Mirage ΜΚIII εξαιρετικό, το "ζαχάρωνα" πολύ καιρό, αλλά δεν έκανα τα 3 κλικ από τον RLT. Δίστασα λόγω μικρού μεγέθους. Μάλλον μ@κ@κια έκανα.... :-\

Ollech & Wajs started business in the 1950s when Albert Wajs began making and supplying stainless steel bracelets for wristwatches. In 1956, a partnership was formed with Joseph Ollech, and they soon began manufacturing wristwatches. Business was done from their retail premises in Zurich. They soon began to expand into world wide markets, more notably the US and UK markets by advertising in magazines that were popular with aviatos, soldiers, divers and sportsmen, selling direct to the end user by mail order from Switzerland.
In the 1960s O&W sold a variety of professional automatic and manual-wind mechanical military and dive watches for an average of US $12. The Ollech & Wajs M 65 military watch was often sold at PX's on US military bases. These watches became very popular with US soldiers who bought them privately as a replacement for their government issued disposable watches. Sales reached an all time high during the Vietnam War era when they were selling thousands of watches via direct mail order.

Όχι, μην το λές, ουσιαστικά ήταν Breitling. Μετά την πτώχευσή της "Β". Η ιστορία είναι γνωστή.
The story has been told numerous times before, so I'll only give a short version here.
In 1979 the original Breitling company that was founded in 1892, and had been in family hands all its life, was liquidated. Several parties acquired parts of the Breitling heritage. Name, designs and parts all went to new owners.
The Ollech & Wajs company was founded more then twenty years earlier, somewhere in the 50's, by the two gentlemen that gave the company it's name. They specialised in good quality, affordable tool watches, and achieved quit a good reputation among soldiers, that preferred them to the government issued watches. In 1979 O&W had the foresight to buy much of the parts that were stocked by Breitling to build and/or service their watches from the Navitimer line.
Up to this day they still have on offer new, unused watches build from original Breitling parts, and parts that came from the original Breitling suppliers. They are sold under the Aviation name.

Towards the late 1970s, Mr. Wajs bought up much of the Breitling company's stock for the aviation models such as the Navitimer. They began producing their own label watches using Breitling cases and the same calibre movements used in Breitling watches. These watches were branded “Aviation” and are now prized amongst collectors.

Στο RLT watches το είχε πριν 2-3 χρόνια περί τα 700 €, αν θυμάμαι καλά.

Tα Ollech & Wajs αρεσαν πολυ και δεν ηταν ακριβα,ετσι πολλοι στρατιωτες εκαναν την παραγγελια τους απο το μετωπο(Βιετναμ)
ο στρατιωτης εγραφε ενα γραμμα στην εταρια ,για να ζητησει το ρολοι που του αρεσε και τις πιο πολλες φορες για να την ευχαριστησει για το ρολοι του
ενα δειγμα απο αυτα τα γραμματα

trademark is its one-piece monoblock case, which means no screw-on back (fewer opportunities to leak), and a triple-

The Caribbean 1000 was also a stylish watch, available with a variety of dial colors, and with the choice of an elapsed time
diving bezel, a decompression time bezel, or a 12 hour GMT bezel. Dials and bezels were all available in matching colors. I
can remember seeing these in the dive shops sold as a kit with all three bezels. The watch shown here has the GMT bezel.
The original instruction manual, from the late ‘60s or early ‘70s, shows a retail price of $135.

The history of Ollech & Wajs watch company started to work in 1950, when Albert Wajs began to manufacture stainless steel bracelets for wristwatches. Six years later, Albert Wajs with his partner, Joseph Ollech, established his own wristwatch-making company in Zurich. Besides Switzerland, right from the start, the company aimed for the markets of the USA and Great Britain. Ollech & Wajs considers itself as a producer of quite professional watches for aviators, soldiers, divers and sportsmen.

In 1960s the company's production was bought by military bases of the USA. Then the watches were very popular among American soldiers. They were especially required during the Vietnam War. By the end of 1970s, Ollech & Wajs bought up the greater part of the famous Breitling watch company's stocks for the aviation models such as Navitimer. While producing this “category” of watches, the company used Breitling cases and movements marked with a logotype Ollech & Wajs.
At the beginning of 1980s, the company, like majority of companies producing mechanical watches, by reason of “quartz crisis, had to stop working. However, towards the late 1990s, the company resumed producing successfully till nowadays.

Κατα τη διαρκεια αυτης της διαδικασιας διαφορες εταιριες αγοραζαν ανταλλακτικα, εμπορικα σήματα και τα δικαιωματα για να τα χρησιμοποιησουν προς οφελος τους. Οι δυο πιο σημαντικες εταιριες ηταν οι Ollech & Wajs και Sinn. Η O & W αρχισε να παραγει ρολογια από τα τμηματα NOS του Navitimer και να τα πουλαει με το ονομα Aviation. Ο Sinn πηγε σε διαφορετικη κατευθυνση, κανοντας νεα ρολογια σε παρομοιο υφος με το Navitimer(Sinn 903)

OW 1959 Plongeur. Ref. 105
The 1959 Plongeur was one of OW’s early dive watches and also one of the first known models to carry the famous OW propellor brand marque. Bold, lumed baton indices are interrupted by oversized triangular markers at 12, 6 and 9 – a design characteristic that endures in today’s OW models. The Ref. 105 was designed specifically to be used in underwater environments, with a water resistance of -660 ft / 20 ATM, which was very impressive for the late 50s. This made it equally suitable for the humid jungles of South East Asia, and it soon became the watch of choice for thousands of GIs and pilots in Vietnam. Many iterations followed, and collectively they are often referred to as – OW’s ‘military’ watches. This particular variation – the Ref. 105 – is also one of the OW watches with a connection to NASA. Anthony Llewellyn, one of NASA’s Astronaut Group 6 Program, wore the OW Plongeur Ref.105 for his official NASA portrait in August 1967. Taught to dive by the legendary Jacques Cousteau, Llewellyn was also the training director at one of the first scuba diving certification programs in the United States. He went from astronaut to aquanaut, living and working in ‘Hydro-Lab’, a semi-autonomous undersea habitat on the ocean bed a mile off the coast of Great Bahama Island

The1962 Aquagaurd predated the iconic OW Caribbean 1000 by two years and was also an important watch for OW. Not only does it exemplify the utilitarian simplicity for which OW is now known, it was one of our first watches to adopt an automatic ETA movement. Its brushed stainless steel skin diver–style case, oversized crown (designed to be easily gripped with diving gloves), and hand-painted luminous spot hour markers typify the aesthetic of dive watches of the period. The Aquaguard line incorporated several dial and bezel variations, but this particular one – with its Mercedes, Dauphine and lollipop hand combo – is something of a rarity

Navichron Ref. 2002
If the Caribbean 1000 is OW’s most famous dive watch, the Ref. 2002 Navichron is surely our most famous chronograph. Introduced in 1965, it too was marketed as a dive watch and was amongst the first dual-pusher chronographs to be water- resistant to -660 ft / -200 m. Like most OW chronographs, the Navichron was designed as an all-round tool watch, aimed at professionals and sportsmen (who OW reasoned could easily be one and the same person). ‘Men of Action‘ – as OW called them back in the 60s. A dive bezel, a tri- coloured race/yachting timer, and a telemetric/tachometric scale are time-measuring features equally useful in the sea, in the air or on land. There were several variations of the Ref. 2002 with different dial, bezel and colour and configurations. This particular variation features a graduated 60-minute dive bezel, much rarer than the ‘world-time’ 12- hour bezel. Εν καιρό πολέμου υπήρχαν οι λεγόμενοι περίοδοι " radio silence " όπου επικρατούσε σιγή ασυρματου για ασφάλεια.
Αυτές είναι περίοδοι 3 λεπτών ,αμέσως μετά από ένα τέταρτο της ώρας.
Αυτές οι περίοδοι ήταν αποκλειστικά και μόνο για σιγή ασυρματου.

Το ρολόι, έχει ροζέτα μοιρών και 300 μέτρα υδατοστεγανότητα. Μάλλον απευθύνεται σε χειριστές ασυρμάτου, αλλά σε ναυτικές εφαρμογές.
Αλλο το radio silence για απόκρυψη από τον εχθρό, που ισχύει παντού αλλά ειδικά στην απόκρυψη σε "καβάτζα" από μικρά επιθετικά πλοία, ή εν πλώ για κάποιο σημείο. Φυσικά, αυτά ίσχυαν χρόοοοοοοοοοοοοοονια τώρα, στα παληά, πριν την ανάπτυξη τεχνολογίας που έχει δορυφόρους, και άλλα μέσα ανίχνευσης. Και σημειώνουμε ότι ο μεγαλύτερος εχθρός πλωτών ή και υποβρυχίων σε μικρό βάθος, είναι το αεροπλάνο, που βλέπει το ίχνος από πολλάααααα χιλιόμετρα.
Η σήμανση των τρίλεπτων ανα τέταρτο, προήλθε από το ναυάγιο του Τιτανικού, και έγινε υποχρεωτικό, οπότε σημειώνεται σε ναυτικά ρολόγια στο δωμάτιο ασυρμάτου.

Radio Silence clocks play an important role in maritime safety, with their implementation spurred on by the tragedy of RMS Titanic.
The radio signalling equipment carried onboard Titanic was of little use since her distress signals went unheard for several hours. One outcome of the disaster was the introduction of the radio silence – a three minute period immediately following each quarter hour reserved exclusively for making, and listening for, distress calls.
Radio room clocks have traditionally been marked with these silence periods as guidance for the operators. The green sectors on the clock face represent silence periods on the SSB (single side band) distress frequency of 2182kHz, as used by commercial, and some pleasure, crafts. The red sectors are for Morse code distress signals on the 500kHz band, as used in radiotelegraphy.
