This exceptional timepiece, handmade in the firm’s manufactory and limited to
25 pieces, pays homage to the pioneering spirit of two extraordinary men,
Julius Assmann and Roald Amundsen.
Julius Assmann started his company at the age of 25 and is revered today as
one of the founding fathers of watchmaking in Glashütte. Pocket watches,
chronometers and observation watches crafted by Assmann and his employees
were to play a significant role in establishing the company’s far-reaching reputation:
the observation watches in particular were known for their remarkable precision
and superior craftsmanship.
Before setting out on his historic voyage, Roald Amundsen acquired a number of Assmann observation watches, including one crafted by the young Glashütte watchmaker Paul Löwe in 1907/08.

Löwe’s watch proved to be exceptionally precise, and he was urged to send it
for testing to the German Naval Observatory in Hamburg, the institute officially responsible for testing and certifying the accuracy of navigational timekeepers made in Germany. It was there that Roald Amundsen saw the watch, and he purchased it in 1910.
On December 14th, 1911, the Norwegian polar explorer and his team became
the first persons ever to reach the geographic South Pole.
Observation watches, also known as “deck watches” were used by navigation officers in conjunction with marine chronometers and other instruments to determine as precisely as possible a ship’s position at sea, and Amundsen will have
made good use of his observation watches during his voyage to Antarctica
on the polar ship, Fram. Once he and his team set out from their base camp at Framheim on the Bay of Whales, however, the time kept by his observation watches became the only standard: one watch was set to a home time and assumed the function of the marine chronometer on a ship; a second watch was set to local time; measurement of the difference between the two was used to calculate,
using spherical trigonometry, the team’s position during the trek to the South Pole;
a compass and sextant were also used. Thus, Amundsen’s observation watches were absolutely critical to his mission: without them, he could never have reached his destination, much less claimed victory for Norway. In Oslo today, the Fram Museum displays, along with many other artifacts documenting the historic trek,
one of Amundsen’s Glashütte observation watches, complete with the inscription
“J. Assmann – Glashütte” on the dial.

The case back, engraved with the limited edition number (01/25), frames
an antireflective sapphire crystal bearing the dates of Amundsen’s arrival at

An extraordinary movement honours Julius Assmann
At the heart of the Senator Observer 1911 - Julius Assmann is the automatic
caliber 100-14, an exquisitely finished self-winding movement. Traditional observation watches used hand-wound movements; Glashuette Original has chosen to outfit the Senator Observer 1911 - Julius Assmann with a contemporary automatic movement from our manufactory to maximize comfort for the wearer. Thus, the ‘Ab Auf’ indicator on the dial represents a true power reserve, rather than a simple indication of running time.
The base movement is outfitted with a reset mechanism, which makes for easier synchronization of the second hand with standard time. In contrast to other reset mechanisms, the second hand is not coupled with the winding stem or the crown. This results in the balance continuing to oscillate and the movement continuing to run despite the crown being pulled out, which considerably reduces wear and tear on materials. The reset mechanism is activated by pushing a separate corrector.
A bi-directional winding rotor delivers energy to a patented, stepped reduction gear, and then to two smaller, serially operating spring barrels. Large amounts of energy are transmitted to the mainspring, and the spring barrel is filled quickly.
Visible through the sapphire case back, the Caliber 100-14 is a fitting tribute to Julius Assmann. The movement features the characteristic Glashütte three-quarter plate, screw-mounted gold chatons, and a rotor with 21-carat gold oscillating weight and the gold-plated double-G mark that distinguishes high end mechanical watches from Glashütte Original.

Σε πολλά σημεία μοιάζουν με τα dress Zenith ή τα Zenith μοιαζούν στα Glashutte! Εχουν μπει στην μελλοντική λίστα μου με τα dress..... κυρίως γιατί τα IWC πάχυναν πολύ για τα γούστα μου.

Εδώ στην ουσία δεν υπάρχει dial, αυτό πάνω στο οποίο έχτισε η εταιρία το dial είναι η πλάτη/όψη του μηχανισμού.

Glashütte Original Welcomes 26 New Apprentices
At the company's own Alfred Helwig School of Watchmaking, twenty-two young people will learn the craft of watchmaking, and four will be trained as toolmakers. With the new arrivals the Saxon manufactory currently has 80 apprentices in training, which makes it the largest of the training institutes based in Glashütte.
This is one of the ways in which Glashütte Original is preparing to meet growing demand for its exclusive timepieces.
The future watchmakers are about to begin an intensive three-year period of training; the apprentice toolmakers can expect to study for three and a half years.
In order to accommodate the students, who come from all over Germany and now number more than 80, the capacity of the school was expanded last year by two new classrooms. The modern, well-equipped rooms are located on two floors in the school: with excellent teaching and learning conditions they offer the best possible conditions for a successful education of the highest quality.

In developing Caliber 36 as its newest base movement, Glashutte Original focused on extreme stability, in rate as well as overall construction; maximum precision; extended running time; and aesthetic beauty in the distinctive Glashütte style.
To ensure stability, the movement designers reduced the traditional number of components, eliminating those that were the most potentially vulnerable to wear and tear, such as the winding system’s traditional detent click, which is rendered superfluous by the new bi-directional-wind reduction gear. They also added an innovative bayonet mount, similar to those used for camera lenses, to more securely position the movement inside the case — resulting in a construction that is extremely shock-resistant and also easy to assemble and service.

Glashütte Original Caliber 36 also represents another milestone for the Saxon haute horlogerie brand, namely its first movement outfitted with a silicon balance spring. This high-tech material — used by just a handful of high-end watch manufacturers, including some of G.O.’s Swiss sister brands within the Swatch Group — renders the ultra-thin spring immune to changes in temperature and to magnetic fields, while contributing to the balance’s extremely isochronous oscillations. The bi-directional winding rotor is another factor in ensuring rate accuracy, keeping the movement consistently charged with energy. A regulator-free oscillation system makes it possible to adjust the rate using weighted screws directly on the balance rim. The movement is tested and adjusted by Glashütte Original in six different positions – one more than a chronometer certification test would normally require.
Finally, the movement boasts yet another first for Glashütte Original (and a rarity in the watch world as a whole): a power reserve of up to 100 hours, at a frequency of 4 Hertz (28,800 vph), and stored in only one spring barrel. Developed specifically for use in the new caliber, the barrel has an increased diameter and a smaller barrel arbour, which made it possible to lengthen the mainspring and sharply increase the number of winding turns.

Εδώ είναι το φυτώριο. Δεν σπουδάζουν όλοι Γιατροί, Μηχανικοί, Δικηγόροι. Σπουδάζουν μέσα στην βιομηχανία, και γίνονται τα μέσα στελέχη των εταιριών. Εχουμε τέτοιο στην Ελλάδα ? Εχουμε μυαλό ? Εχουμε βιομηχανία ? Φάμπρικες ?
Το βίωσα προσωπικά, όταν έπιασα δουλειά σε μια εταιρία που είχε εξιδικευμένες απαιτήσεις βιομηχανικών γνώσεων στην αγγελία. Τις πληρούσα ΠΛΗΡΩΣ. Και πήγα. Και με πήρανε. Ευχαριστώ :)
Μετά τα πρώτα, με στέλνουν 15 ημέρες στην Γερμανία για την εκπαίδευση, και ο Δ/ντης εκεί φώναξε έναν τύπο, τον Rudolf, και με παρέδωσε.
Ο Rudolf ήταν επικεφαλής και υπεύθυνος της εκπαίδευσης των τεχνικών του κλάδου. Εργάτης, μηχανικός , εφαρμοστής, που είχε φθάσει σε αυτό το επίπεδο, γύρω στα 50 τότε, μετά από 35 χρόνια εργασίας στην βαριά βιομηχανία, και σχολεία εκπαίδευσης, στα υλικά, μηχανήματα, τόρνους και MIG - TIG. Αραγε επιβίωσε μετά στα CAD, CAM κλπ ? :D
Μετά από μία εβδομάδα διαπίστευσης, με επέστρεψε ( ..... .οχι ως ληγμένο :D) με επαίνους.
Από το ΜΙΤ να ήσουν με Διδακτορικό, αν δεν έλεγε ΝΑΙ ο Rudolf , πήγαινες σπίτι σου.
Εγώ τότε ΔΕΝ ΗΞΕΡΑ την διαδικασία και την σπουδαιότητά της , δεν ήταν γνωστό στην Ελλάδα, ήμουν ο πρώτος που προσελάμβαναν στην Ελλάδα. Οταν έμαθα αργότερα την βαρύτητα της πιστοποίησης , και της γνώμης του Rudolf ΠΑΓΩΣΑ. Απλώς με έσωσε το γεγονός ότι είχα πολύ εμπειρία, ήμουν εργατικός, ήμουν ψείρας, και όταν απάντησα στην αγγελία δεν έλεγα ψέματα. ( ως συνήθως όλοι δηλαδή :D )
Σε αυτήν την φωτό, η αίθουσα εκπαίδευσης , metrology, όπου οι μαθητές κάνουν εφαρμογή / πρακτική εργαλείων, σφήνες, χελιδονο-ουρές, μετρήσεις με παχύμετρα, μικρόμετρα , γράφτες, θα βιδώσουν, θα λιμάρουν, θα εφαρμόσουν κομμάτια, που θα φτιάξουν βάσει σχεδίου, κλπ. που έχει φτιάξει η προηγούμενη τάξη.
Τα κοριτσάκια ΑΒΑΦΑ, χωρίς γάντια ( απαγορεύεται ), λιμάρουν, εφαρμόζουν, ..........ΜΑΘΑΙΝΟΥΝ. Και δεν είναι στημένη, φαίνεται πως κρατάνε την λίμα και την εφαρμογή.
Τα δικά μας ( ντρέπομαι .... :( ), στην καφετέρια, μακιγιαζ, μανικιούρ, τατουάζ , ξανθές, χειρίστριες καλαμακίου φραπέ.
Α, ρε Ελλάδα. Πως μας κατάντησαν έτσι οι ηγήτορες. Ουτε για υπάλληλοι δεν κάνουμε.

Presented in a 42 mm white gold case with a light silver-grained dial and contrasting black laser- engraved indexes and chapter ring. The large panorama date, or digital display, sits neatly a 12 o’clock. Actually it celebrates it’s 20th anniversary for it’s first launch in 1997. Ever since that time Glashütte Original uses two discs which are arranged on the same level so the date reads easily without separation bar. On the lower side of the dial at 6 o’clock you will find the flying tourbillon ticking away.clearly.
The Roman index at 1 o’clock reveals the individual numbering of the limited edition. When looking though the sapphire caseback you will find the Saxon art of watchmaking in the shape of the manufacture Calibre 94-03 movement which comes with a 48-hour power reserve. Finished with the Glashütte stripes, blued screws and the two- tone galvanized skeletonized rotor. With it’s black Louisiana alligator leather strap with white gold foldover clasp you can secure it to your wrist without risking to drop it.

Master watchmaker Alfred Helwig
In watchmaking a tourbillon (French for whirlwind) is one of the most high-end horological complications. Originally developed by Abraham Louis Breguet in 1801 to compensate for the effects of gravity on the precision of mechanical (pocket) watches. This watch carries the name of the inventor of the flying tourbillon. This advanced version was built by Alfred Helwig in 1920 and differs from the classic tourbillion primarily in terms of aesthetics. Anchored on one side only, it has no need for the top bridge which offeres an unobstructed view of this beautiful complication.
Master watchmaker Alfred Helwig was born in the region of Niederlausitz where he graduated with honours in 1905. After completing his training at the German Watchmaking School of Glashütte he remained a loyal teacher for over forty years. Alfred Helwig is considered one of the most important figures in the history of Glashütte watchmaking. And so is his invention of the Flying Tourbillon from 1920. Today his name graces the Glashütte Original watchmaking school, located in the same building where he once worked and taught, educating the future of the Glashütte art of watchmaking.

Brice Goulard is a watch expert, and associate editor for Monochrome Watches, an influential watch blog dedicated to high-end watchmaking. In his film – which he conceptualized in cooperation with Monochrome founder Frank Geelen – he takes up the facetted history of watchmaking in Glashütte and presents it as a backdrop to the present and future of Glashütte Original in particular.
The film "Phoenix rising" presents the point of view of a journalist motivated by his research interests. In a factual yet personal manner he tells of his fascination for the rich heritage of watchmaking in Glashütte and for the knowledge that this carries, knowledge which has been handed down from one generation to the next and maintained, despite crises and wars, from 1845 to the present, a living history.

ΤΑ ΠΑΝΤΑ in house, οχι μονο τα εξαρτηματα της εκαστοτε μηχανης , αλλα ακομη και τα εργαλεια που χρησιμοποιουν τ φτιαχνουν οι ιδιοι. Εχουν δικο τους εργοστασιο που φτιαχνει dials με μεθοδους και μηχανες (με τα παρακατω, απιθανα αποτελεσματα) :

Εχουν δικη τους σχολη για ωρολογοποιους, συνδραμουν στο τοπικο μουσειο ωρολογοποιιας , εχουν ακομη και φαρμες εκτροφης αλιγατορα στη Ν.Αμερικη για τα λουρακια τους.... Μονο τον αερα που αναπνεουν δε φτιαχνουν σ αυτο το εργοστασιο!
Και το γαματο ειναι οτι κανονιζεις με ενα 20ρικο περιπου ξεναγηση , ολα ειναι με τζαμαρια και τη στιγμη που δουλευουν περνας απο διπλα και σου κανουν ξεναγηση, επεγηξηση κτλ! Το εχω κανει και αξιζει σε σημει ο που αμα παω παλι προς Γερμανια, θα παω και 2η φορα... :D

Ναι αλεξανδρε, ειχα παει στο χωριο Glashutte (οπου ειδα αλλα δεν μπορεσα να μπω και τα εργαστηρια των lange, nomos, tutima και 1-2 ακομα πολυ high end brands, το μουσειο κτλ). Δουλευε για την εταιρεια μια κολλητη μου και μου χε κανονισει τουρ οσο με φιλοξενουσε. Εχω γραψει ολοκληρη παρουσιαση εδω , με μπολικες φωτο, εσυ που σαι ρουφηχτρα γνωσης, θα το εκτιμησεις!

Union Glashutte. Μαζι με τη Muhle Glashutte, ειναι οι 3 γερμανικες που ανηκουν στο swatch group. Οι αλλες 2 ειναι βεβαια για λογους αγορας τοποθετημενες χαμηλοτερα, οποτε χρησιμοποιουν ΕΤΑ και κυμαινονται στα 1-2 χιλιαρικα κυριως.. Σε ευχαριστώ για τις πληροφορίες

Ηταν στα υποψηφια για αγορα, αλλα η τιμη ξεφευγε. Γυρω στα 5-6.000, θα το σκεφτομουν σοβαρα.
Το μοντελο με την ημερομηνια στο 5 ειναι 43αρι, ενω με την ημ/νια στο 3 ειναι 39αρι.
Καλυπτει ολους τους καρπους, αν και προτιμω την ημερομηνια στο 5, που μου πεφτει XL.

Επίσης έχω δει πολύ μεγάλες διακυμάνσεις στην τιμή, αν το επιλέξει κάποιος με rubber, και όχι με μπρασελε, ισως και κάτι παραπάνω από 1000 ευρώ κάτω.
Βέβαια το μπρασελε του ειναι έργο τέχνης .

Me εταιρικό discount άνετα με έβαζε σε σκέψεις να λοξοκοιταξω από ff..... Αν και ο παράγων ιστορία, μάλλον με κρατεί στη ΒΡ.Γιάννη είναι αμαρτία να πάρεις GO χωρίς panorama date. Και δυστυχώς το SeaQ βγάζει μόνο το 43 με PD.
Ρολογαρα πάντως, κι αν σκεφτείς ότι ένα 20% θα παίξει, θεωρώ πολύ ποιοτική εναλλακτική. Σπορ +ΥΩ, ωραίο σχέδιο, σούπερ μέγεθος, καλή τιμή, μάρκα για ψαγμένους...

Πάντως κανένα από τα δύο δεν είναι κάτι το ξεχωριστό σε σχέση με αυτό που δείχνουν στο καντράν τους. Στα 70s βρωμούσε ο τόπος από όλα αυτά τα skin divers. Γαλλικά ή ελβετικά κατά εκατοντάδες!!! Νομίζω και οι Αμερικάνοι είχαν ρίξει ανάλογα σχέδια.
Συνεπώς ο Γιάννης έχει απόλυτο δίκιο που ζητάει ένα panorama date ώστε να ξεχωρίζει με τον δικό του τρόπο.

Glashütte Original presents a new twist on one of its classic, the Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date with a “Fab Green” dial. As is de rigueur at the German luxury manufacture, the watch face is distinguished by a cool color gradient.
Black indices and hands with Superluminova coating make their mark for the very first time within the Seventies line and are combined with the brand’s signature Panorama Date, here with white numbers on a black background, and a power reserve indicator which is integrated into the subdial for the subsidiary seconds.
While the appearance mirrors the bold style of the decade the timepiece shares its name with, the movement represents cutting edge. Inside the stainless steel case, itself featuring a diameter of 40mm by 40mm and a water resistance of 100 meters, we find the self-winding caliber 37-02. The caliber is fully-stocked with a stop-second feature, column-wheel control, flyback function, 30-minute display and numeric 12-hour display. It goes without saying that this high-end manufacture caliber is finished to the highest standards of Glashütte fine watchmaking.
The new model is available with three straps and bracelets: brown-gray nubuck leather, black rubber or fashioned entirely in cool stainless steel. Glashütte Original is welcoming a new complication to its high-end luxury collection, the PanoMaticCalendar with an annual calendar mechanism. This premiere is offered in red gold and a limited platinum execution, with 150 pieces manufactured. Both have an unmistakable style and are bond to make the hearts of aficionados beat faster.
By definition, the annual calendar complication is a great companion throughout the year, reliably indicating the day, month and date with taking the different lengths into account. It’s only once a year, on March 1st, that the owner has to advance the date.
It goes without saying that the characteristic large date, aptly called “Panorama Date,” and a beautiful moon phase are also aboard. The innovative retrograde display of the month, beneath a sapphire crystal window between 3 and 6 o’clock, perfectly complements the signature asymmetric design.
With the PanoMaticCalendar, Glashütte Original also presents a new genuine movement, which celebrates its premiere in two versions at once: as Calibre 92-09 in the unlimited red gold version, and as Calibre 92-10 in the partially skeletonized platinum model. Both movements are rhodium plated and finished to the high standards of this traditional luxury manufacture.
The one powering the limited edition is particularly striking; galvanization coats it in an elegant shade of black rhodium. From a technical standpoint, this top-notch movement running at 28,800 vph offers a silicon balance spring unaffected by changes in temperature or magnetic fields, a power reserve of 100 hours. The retrograde month display is particularly refined. It can be easily set, just like the date, via the crown.
With a diameter of 42mm, the PanoMaticCalendar is being offered in red gold with a finely shimmering, silver opaline dial and brown Louisiana Alligator nubuck leather strap for $29,000. The limited edition in platinum features a skeletonized galvanic black dial and black Louisiana Alligator nubuck leather. Γλυκύτατο κούρδισμα, όμορφος μηχανισμός, ισορροπημένη (σε πάχος) (αριθμημένη) κάσα και στήσιμο που το κάνουν να φοριέται αρτιότατα.
To dial θα μπορούσε να είναι πιό δυναμικό και -κυρίως- ξεχωριστό, θα έλεγα πως άλλα μοντέλα της εταιρείας είναι ακόμη καλύτερα σε αυτό το πεδίο.
Όμως σαν ρολόϊ συνολικά, και στο 20.6% της τιμής ενός ALS 1815 Up/Down**, παραμένει εξαιρετική επιλογή ως καθημερινό κομμάτι.
