Baltic just revised its Scalegraph, proving that vintage-style chronographs are still cool
The new Baltic Scalegraph adopts the upgraded case first seen on the Scalegraph x Tour Auto, complete with screw-down pushers and 100m of water resistance.
Three new dial variants join the collection, featuring a traditional tricompax layout and matching aluminium tachymeter bezels.
The manually wound Sellita SW510-M cam-style chronograph movement remains from the previous model, delivering 63 hours of power reserve.
The interesting thing about limited-edition releases is that they can allow brands to subtly test the waters with new and improved designs. Last year, Baltic introduced a significantly revised chronograph case with two limited-edition models: the Scalegraph x Tour Auto and the Scalegraph Transat Café L’Or. The new case featured screw-down pushers and 100 metres of water resistance without compromising too much of the compact proportions that made the Scalegraph so appealing in the first place. Now those upgrades have arrived in the permanent collection, alongside a revised dial design that brings the Scalegraph closer to its vintage roots.
The most significant changes have happened on the outside of the watch. While the 39.5mm diameter and 47mm lug-to-lug measurement remain unchanged, Baltic has completely reworked the stainless steel case. The lugs are broader, the lines are sharper, and the finishing has been updated with vertical brushing across the top surfaces. Combined with the new screw-down chronograph pushers and matching crown, the Scalegraph now feels much closer to a true sports chronograph than its predecessor, while retaining the same compact proportions that made the original so wearable.
The dial design has also evolved. Available in champagne, blue, or grey, each version pairs a matching brushed aluminium tachymeter bezel with contrasting off-white sub-dials arranged in a traditional tricompax layout. The sub-dials feature an off-white azurage finish and polished surrounds that add depth to the dial, while horizontal applied indices and dauphine hands maintain the collection’s distinctly vintage character and lend a sense of maturity. The blue model opts for a glossy finish, while the champagne and grey versions lean into a more restrained metallic look.
Powering the watch is the manually wound Sellita SW510-M, a movement that has become a familiar sight in Baltic’s chronograph lineup. Based on the proven Valjoux architecture, it offers a healthy 63-hour power reserve along with the tactile interaction that many enthusiasts still prefer from a mechanical chronograph. Available on a leather strap, beads-of-rice bracelet, or flat-link bracelet, the new Scalegraph represents less of a reinvention and more of a thoughtful refinement of one of Baltic’s most popular models.
One of the strengths of Baltic’s design language has always been its ability to balance vintage inspiration with modern practicality, and the new Scalegraph arguably achieves that better than any previous version. The double-domed sapphire crystal, BGW9 Super-LumiNova, and 100m water resistance make it considerably more versatile than before, while details such as the drilled lugs, aluminium bezel, and hand-wound movement preserve the old-school charm that attracted enthusiasts to the collection in the first place.
