Citizen did some lab controlled accelerated tests and they were able to determine that the rechargeable cell in the Eco-Drive movements will still hold 80% of total charge capacity after 22 years or so of use. Take that for whatever is worth
The oldest Eco-Drive movements out there date back from 1995. So we are still a little ways off from that 22 year mark. Would be interesting to see how the cells on those mid 1990's Eco-Drive watches are holding up.
Also keep in mind, that today's eco-drive watches (Some calibers, not all of them) have power reserves going from 2.5 years all the way up to 7 years.
